Hotel reccom. Ritz Carlton Vs Westin - Better pool/hot tubs?

Hi all,

We are planning a trip to GCM this summer (The last time we were there was a day trip on a cruise ship spot when they were just starting to build the ritz carlton before we had kids!). It was such a beautiful island, we always said we wanted to go back. We have been travelling to turks and caicos the past few years, but the prices have gone up too high so we are trying something else this summer.

We will be traveling with our 2 kids ( ages 9 & 6), we were thinking of either the westin or the ritz carlton. Which hotel would you recommend? A nice big pool and hot tub would be a plus, would you say that one has a bigger/better pool over the other? Do both resorts have hot tubs? A kids program/camp is not necessary as we have our kids stay with us all day.

Thanks so much for any feedback,

In the spirit of "know before you go", found some more info on the Ritz Carlton site as to what folks get for the $60 per room per night.....

* Complimentary dining for children five years old and younger in Seven, Bar Jack, Periwinkle and Taikun

* High speed and wireless internet access

* Use of laptop computers available in the Silver Palm Lounge

* Morning coffee and tea in the Silver Palm Lounge

* Valet parking

* Use of floating Aqua Lounge dining tables and Aqua Bed lounges

* Access to Silver Rain, a La Prairie spa, facilities including steam rooms, saunas and whirlpools

* The fitness center and daily fitness classes including Yoga, Zumba and Pilates

* Water sports toys including kayaks, standing paddle boards, water tricycle, floating rafts, paddle boats and water hammocks

* Sailing experience

* Snorkeling gear and lessons

* Use of the Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ambassadors of the Environment turtle splash pool

* Use of the golf course chipping and putting green and hitting area

* Nightly movies shown under the stars

* Access to a comprehensive DVD Library for in room viewing

So that's quite a long list - I think it's up to the individual to decide whether or not it's worth that.

Personally, I don't understand why these mandatory "fees" can't be added in to the cost of the room, rather than making them a bit difficult to find for those who only read the larger fonts (like the prices), but I suspect that that may be something to do with the taxes, which presumably aren't levied against these additional items.
