Can anyone recommend snorkeling sites along Seven Mile Road? We will arrive in GC tomorrow for our first trip.
Check out Testudo's snorkel guide
Note on Testudo's blog that none of the sites he feels are noteworthy are along Seven Mile Beach. It's just not the best area for snorkeling. You can see some fish at the reef off Governor's Beach in front of the Governor's home in central Seven Mile Beach, and some entertaining sea life about 300 yards from Cemetery Beach, in the northern end of Seven Mile Beach. The best sites are located on other parts of the island, easily accessible by car.
Off Seven Mile Beach I like Governor's Reef as a nice spot to photography fish. They have been trained by numerous naive snorkelers to pose for pictures in exchange for cash...I mean food. The Cemetery Beach section of SMB is also another spot, with similarly conditioned fish, but with some better reef farther off in the deeper water.
Not far from SMB, in the heart of George Town, is Eden Rock and Devils Grotto, some of my favorite snorkeling on the South Shore.
