Only a week to go and a few questions...

Okay, so some assistance please....

We are two friends visiting St Kitts, we are more travellers than tourist types, so not your 'all inclusive' type... (Just to give you an idea)

1) Just been checking the forecast and the weather seems quite changeable, so wondering what to pack... Due to arrive next week and wondering if it gets a bit chilly in the evenings?

2) How hungry are the mosquitos at the moment?

3) Are sand flies also an issue as would like to do sundowners on the beach and not have our ankles attacked!

4) Would like to do something for the day/eve on Saturday the 18th as its a 'big' birthday celebration, did think of spending the day at Nevis, I know there's a racecourse, however not sure if there's races on or what the deal is there.. any info gladly welcome. Or any other idea for a special way to spend the day on St Kitts.

I answered your first 3 question in response to your question on the "What to wear" thread.

As for racing on Nevis, the horse race meets are held sporadically throughout the year, usually on or around the major local holidays. There are no meets scheduled during the month of May. That shouldn't stop you from visiting Nevis as there are plenty of interesting things to see and do. If you go to the island for a day trip consider hiring a taxi driver/guide for a 1/2 or full day tour of the island. The driver will take you all around the island and show you all the major points of interest. It's the best way to "maximize" your time on island.

Of course, you could always spend your "special day" doing a private tour of St. Kitts.
