Car rental, taxi,or tour for the day?

Can't decide- We are staying at TBR for 1 week and plan on mostly walking to the restaurants and nearby beaches, but were wondering if we should try to spend at least one day to see the island with either a tour, taxi, or car rental.

We prefer a knowlegeable taxi or tour driver, but have had a bad experience in the past, so we need a recomendation. Also, what might a day tour cost?

If we rent a car for just a day, is it difficult to drive and navigate ourselves , and what might this cost?

Any advice is very much appreciated!

You should definitely explore the island. There are lots of knowledgeable guides available to show you the island and tell you about the history. Having a guide will be more informative and you don't have to worry about missing anything.

A website you might find helpful is www.lizpereirastourstore.shutterfly.com

There are a number of car companies. Bullseye, Avis, Thrifty. Easy to drive around the island since there is only one main road. Just remember to stay left and watch out for goat crossings.

We were at the marriott for a week, actually we are still here and we took a tour through Sir Walter and he's excellent. Very knowledgeable and drives slow so you can see the island. $80 for the round trip of the north end of the island. If you go eat at spice mill, which is awesome you can see the south end. If we ever make it back here we will go for a joy ride with him. His number is 869-663-6596 hope y'all have fun.

There are lots of excellent/knowledgable taxis drives on the island. The Activities Director at TBR will gladly arrange a tour for you.

You can find rates for taxis tours here:

discover-stkitts-nevis-beaches.com/st-kitts-…

If you decide to rent a car the cost will run about $45US to about $90US per day depending on the size of the car you rent. You'll need to get a "temporary Driver's License (about $28US) and, of course there are the ubiquitous government taxes on the rental.

Hire a guide. I used Thenford Grey and he was wonderful!
