Shipwreck or Cockshell in St Kitts? Family with teenagers.

We are travelling as an extended family this December and will land via cruise ship in St Kitts for the day with our seven teenagers aged 12 to 17. Which beach should we head to? Shipwreck or Cockshell?

Either one as both are very nice beaches. Cockleshell has a few more "activities" available and thus it usually attracts more day trippers from the cruise ships, so that's the trade off.

cockshell is the best beach for your family, lots of water sports and great snorkelling , you can also rent beach chairs and have lunch, your family will enjoy the day there. you can also get a private taxi just for the family for the day, try eyeandeyetaxi@hotmail.com very cool guy and fun.

how much did the private taxi for the day cost? do the drivers know the best spots to take you around the island? we did that years ago in St. Maarten and had a great time.

A private taxi for the "day" will run you $30US per hour. Yes, the drivers also act as guides and know all the best spots on the island. If you engage your driver in a conversation he/she will tailor the tour to your liking.

FYI - if you want to do "less than a day" you can hire a private taxi for a 2.5 hour tour for $60US or a 4 hour tour for $80US. Rates are based on 1 to 4 people in your group. If you have 5 or more in your party you'll pay a "per person" rate. Go here for more information and a rate schedule (scroll down to find "Tour Rates):
