i have a booked honeymoon at the 4S in St. Nevis in first week of July 09....am i in trouble??
Yes. Call the Four Seasons reservation and have yourself changed to another property. Make sure you get an upgrade for your inconvenience. The Nevis resort is taking reservations for May 1st and later but they haven't reached an agreement with the Insurance Co and the owner's who are in default on their loan. The 4S merely operates the property. This promises to be a long drawn out problem.
4S announced last week that they will be closed until 1 Nov 2009.
Playsccr, you are not really in trouble they have there villas open for rentals if thats what you were looking at.
infonevis - that will be news to the villa owners. According to an owner we know there have not been any rentals since the hotel closed last year and they just had their Home Owners Meeting last month. The Hotel is closed. Supposedly there will be some building beginning in April but the staff was notified that they were being laid off because the insurance will no longer pay them. Reopening in November is wishful thinking and since playsccr's honeymoon is in July he/she should look elsewhere. Try Nisbet's, Montpelier or The Hermitage on Nevis or have the 4S put the honeymooners at a different property.
Any idea if they are entirely rebuilding or just repairing? We are considering going in December, but want to get an idea of how likely they are to finish
The rooms are being repaired and refurbished.
When they will be finished is anyone's guess.
Word is the hotel is in receivership. Any current works are the remainder of the insurance companies responsibilities.
Apparently the Reciever is searching for a buyer to take on the hotel as a 'going concern' !
Nilechamp is correct. One has to remember that the resort is only managed by the Four Seasons. The resort itself is owned by private investors and as such Four Seasons doen't control what will or will not be done.
