Hiking at Buccament Bay

Hi all,

We're heading to Buccament Bay for a week shortly and I wondered whether it's possible to go hiking from the resort?

Is this something we would need to arrange as an excursion or can we go alone? And if it needs arranging does anyone know how to do this and how much it may cost please?

Thanks,

Becky.

For safety's sake do not go off hiking alone. Booking an excursion should be simple enough. If BB does not have one that appeals to you ck out HazeCo Tours on St Vincent. The area nearby has a long history of "Ganja Farmers" who do not enjoy tourists stumbling upon their endeavors. Still it is safe to go out with Local Tour Providers or even a local taxi driver. Lovely Waterfalls, banana plantations, black sand beaches, even volcano hikes! You might enjoy booking an island tour and do consider a day trip to nearby Bequia.. Ferries leave from downtown and there is no need for a guide. Just hop on a ferry. When you reach Bequia wander around quaint Pt Elizabeth and then grab a taxi "under the almond tree". Go for an Island tour or ask to go to Princess Margaret Beach or Lower Bay Beach for lunch and some beach time. Calm water is lovely for a swim as well. Afternoon ferries will get you back to BB in plenty of time for sunset and dinner. Bequia is an island not to be missed and less than an hour away by foot ferry! You will find it quite different in nature from mainland St Vincent.

Call Richmond Vale and arrange a volcano hike with Franklin. Great guide. And the leeward side (where BB is located) is a better, but more grueling hike.

Short cab ride to Vermont Nature trails. 1 hour or so hike through the rain forest. No guide required. And you might see the rare St Vincent Parrot.

Also worth a walk through the botanical gardens. We had a great guide last week. Cruise ship passenger tour, 20 minutes. Our tour almost 2 hours. Maybe combine it with a ride up to Fort Charlotte. Most amazing road I have ever driven on.

Thanks for the replies.

Looks like I'll try to arrange a guide when we are at the resort.

I was hoping it may have been one of the excursions that the resort supplies.

It could be. Haven't stayed at BB so maybe email them and they can advise you. Also Hazeco Tours has a website you can google if you wanted to pre book.
