YOUNG ISLAND ..... Recent Noise from St Vincent???

Hi All,

Am considering visiting Young Island and noticed some posts from several years ago regarding the noise from nearby St Vincent.

Can anyone who has visited more recently comment on this & whether it was a problem

Really would like to have a room near the beach, but would prefer to be away from any loud music...

Also regarding the Sailaway, can anyone who booked an Al inclusive package for 14 nights take advantage of this trip. And was there an extra cost??

Young Island is a short distance from the mainland, swimable probably but not advised, there Re a few bars and restaurants along the boardwalk there, we usually anchor in the cut between the islands and I don't recall being bothered by loud music at night

We recently visited Young Island for a few nights and the noise was no problem at all. We did stay on the hillside and not on the beach but even during dinner on the beachfront we were never disturbed by the noise.

The amount of noise from across the channel would depend on the nights in question that you are planning to stay. Weekdays will be generally quiet but Friday and Saturday nights you will hear music from the bars and the talking of patrons dining in the beachside restaurants.

We found Sunday was actually noisiest in the daytime as Mariners Hotel across the way has a local Sunday buffet which everyone frequents and the poolside is packed with families with kids. In addition, all the local boys play football on the small strips of sand along this stretch of beach. But on Sunday night it gets quiet again.

If you’re a light sleeper and you nod off early then the music may annoy you until the wee hours of the morning, but the noise certainly was not loud enough to affect our sleep. Maybe best to bring some earplugs just in case.
