Photo of the day

Finally here in Bequia after months of anticipation! Rather than boring everybody (this means you Bob) with all the mundane details of our life in Bequia this time around, I thought I would instead try to pick one picture a day from the ones that Carol (mostly) and I take and try to capture the experience that way. The first one is not that exciting, but hey, after a long day of travel and airplane/airport food, what could be more appropriate than a Mac's pizza. (And Ok it's not the lobster pizza, but we really thought it would be better to save that for a day when we weren't so exhausted.) So here's the link for today's shot:

And here is a link to some of my favourite "screensaver" shots from our trips over the years, just in case anyone is looking for an immediate "island fix":

Day 2:

Well, I tried and tried to get a decent shot of the steel band at Frangi but couldn't get the light right--kept trying until they closed the bar, though (ouch!). So, instead a shot from earlier in the day. It really is a pretty harbour.

Careful Bear ! That looks like Ric and Mabels table you're trying to give away. Great pics.

Nah, they were at the next one--I wouldn't dare do something like that.

Day 3:

Looking out from Lower Bay at one very tall sailboat... In talking to some of the crew the other night, we found out that the mast is so tall it can't go through the Panama Canal (bridges are too low) and has to go all the way around Cape Horn when it goes to the Pacific.

Twice as long and twice as wide as the lot my house sits on in Toronto. Built by the owner of Avis at a cost of $ 50,000,000. Was available for charter at one time for $ 500,000 per week.
