Ocean Village Cruise - What to do in Mayreau

We are going to be in Mayreau for a day in February as part of a week long Caribbean Cruise.

Please can anyone suggest the best places to see in what will be a limited time (around 6 hours).

Any advice on the Ocean Village organised tours (or local equivalents) would be appreciated :-)

Thanks, Andy & Helen

Ocean Village is HUGE and will completely overwhelm little Mayreau.

For an excursion, your best bet would be to organize a private water taxi to take you over to the Tobago Cays as well as a stop in Saltwhistle Bay Mayreau. Visit the Usual Suspects Sailing website for a profile on the boatboays of nearby Union island, and make arrangements directly with one of them. Make sure they provide (or, better, that you bring with you) snorkelling gear including fins.

Or you could organize a daysail with Scaramouche...contact Erika's marine Services, also on Union.

Went to Mayreau with Ocean Village as part of a 14 day cruise. It is a tiny Island, as we had been really busy on other days we just chilled out on the beach for the day. You will go ashore by tender and the ship staff come over to the beach and set up a cooking station and a bar, which is pretty amazing. It was wonderful, a steel band playing, a few local traders selling their wares. We walked along the beach to a local "shack" and enquired about a fresh lobster. We were taken out in a boat to the lobster baskets, picked a lobster of our choice, this was weighed and cooked freshly in front of us. All in all, a totally chilled out day, to just relax.
