North and Middle Caicos

How's the snorkeling on North and Middle Caicos at places like Whitby, Three Mary Cays, and Mudjin Harbor?

We are going to do the trip to Mudjin Harbor this year for the first time, and I was wondering if it's worth stopping at other places to snorkel along the way or if we should just go to Mudjin for most of the day.

Also, any good places for lunch close to Mudjin Harbor?

There are no great places to snorkel off the beach, so you may just want to go to Mudjin Harbor since you can do some snorkeling there around Dragon Cay.

On Middle Caicos, go to Daniel's Cafe for lunch in Conch Bar. It is past Mudjin, on the way to Bamberra Beach.

If you walk out out to the little island (think its called Pelican Cay) off Bambarra Beach there is supposed to be excellent snorkeling on the far side of it.

New North and Middle Caicos MAP coming 1st of March that will show snorkle spots. Otherwise ask around, Captain Poach - Beach Cruiser Charters out of Silver Palms Restaurant in Whitby can direct you or take you. Mudjin Harbour is world class when it is calm.

I have seen several references to "great" snorkeling at Three Mary's Cay on different web sites. Is the snorkeling not that good there or require a boat to get to?

Snorkeling at Three Marys is supposed to be great, but I have never been able to catch it on a calm day. Hopefully next week we will catch a good day and can report back.

You'd wondered why you never made the trek to North and Middle Caicos before! It's like walking into a postcard at Mudjin Harbor. Make sure your gas tank is full before cruising over to Middle Caicos 'cause there are no gas stations there. Take LOTS of pics!

Oh, take some good bug repellent 'cause the no-see-ums and mosquitoes can be brutal at times.
