Steel drum music and casino

We love the steel drums...is there a place that we can go and hear a steel drum band?

Also, is the big casino within walking distance of Club Med?

I can't help with the steel drums, but for the casino...

Walk out the entrance road of the Club Med (about 1/4 mile from the village square to the gate). As soon as you pass the gate you are at the road (Grace Bay Rd, I believe). Hang a right there and follow the sidewalk for all of about a minute or two and you will be at the Casino. It will take you 5-10 minutes to get off Club Med property, then 2 minutes to get to the Casio.

Not really a steel drum kind of place.

You can find a reggae type band at Somewhere On The Beach on Thursday nights, other nights have other bands.

Ask around Da Conch Shack or Three Queens or Smokeys, you might find "Rake N Scrape" usually saws and other tools used for music.

There's lounge type music live at Mango Reef Friday nights, at Seven Stars Thursday and Saturday nights.

Calico Jacks has live music from local bands Thur-Sat nights, with emphasis on Friday nights.

Thanks for the replies.

Is it safe walking to and from the casino...not that we ever win anything but if people see you leaving they may think you've got some money on you. We're not really into gambling but thought it would be something fun to do one evening.

The casino has a shuttle so no need for walking home with your big winnings!

maca81...I guess we're doomed...LOL...since we don't have to worry about getting robbed we probably won't win anything.

Do they serve complimentary drinks while you're gambling? I know they do in Aruba...not sure about other islands...most other places we've visited don't have casinos.

Does the shuttle just take you back or also pick you up at your resort?
