what to do and where to eat

Hello to fellow t&a ers:

We are somewhat active 60 y.o. couple 1st time to TCI. will be staying in Grace Bay area and had several questions:

1. Restaurants:

What do folks recommend for high end($200) and then regular food restaurants within walking distance of grace bay.

Is thursday night fish fry near to grace bay?

2. Deep sea fishing

would like to go early a.m. split charter fishing any recommendations or people needing another for their charter?

any people actually to recommend or should we use hotel recs?

3. Rental car

I get restless after a few beach days. should we get a car for the week or just a few days and who would you recommend?

Any spots that we should absolutely go to?

4. Bringing in food

Any recommendations to bring in food/spices/etc? We will have kitchen.

5. Other water activities.

Would like a nice sunset cruise, maybe tandem jet ski tour. boat tour/snorkel/lunch would be good too.

thanks and as always keep those opinions rolling.

Grace Bay area is pretty large, so it would be good to know what resort you're near. We stay at the Alexandra and you can schedule snorkeling excursions with Caicos Dream Tours at the beach hut there, they have parasailing at Beaches resort nearby. For high end dinner I'd suggest Bay Bistro, Coco Bistro, Grace's Cottage, Beach House, Parallel 23. Bella Luna is good for Italian, "Somewhere on the beach" is good for casual mexican food. There is scuba diving and deep sea fishing through the concierge's or on this forum you'll get recommendations.

Jaxon: when will you be in Provo and what days are you available for fishing? Our favorite spice is Lemon pepper. it is great on seafood, veggies, chicken, and pork. it was a must for us to take

We will be staying at the Alexandra 1st week of May.

I would be available the 8th or 9th or tenth of May for fishing if we catch anything then we can eat it right away and safe on food costs:).

thanks for all of your tips.

the seafood must be pretty good does it top the Blue Crabs of MD and VA?lol.

Any suggestiongs on skippers?

girlinKalamazoowould those days work for you?

The answer to #3 Rental Car is YES. There is a lot to see/explore on the Island to experience. I rent from Grace Bay Car Rental last couple of times. Since you drive British style(left side of the road) it makes since to drive a car with the British steering wheel(right side of car)on the correct side. Not a damn traffic light on the entire Island. " Welcome to Turks & Caicos Islands, It's All Good!" DR. JIM

Caicos Dream Tours has an office at Alexandria for Beach Cruises. Nothing here tops Chesapeake Bay Blue Crabs or Rockfish. Try the Softshell Crab appetiser at SEVEN. You will be here on a new moon so fishing might be good.

the 9th would work. I usually prefer to go deep sea fishing and with TCI you are only about 1 - 2 miles from the dropoff. Dont really want to go shark fishing but wahoo, mahi, grouper, tuna marlin, ok.

do you have a favorite skipper/captain that you use?

Seems fishing is better a.m. would half day be okay?
