Trip Report-- Day 14--Final Full Day In Paradise

Got to Experience a ripsaw band of 5 playing @ Somewhere last night. Using a butter knife scraping it across the saw teeth which was bent for different sounds. Also a guitar, bass & 2 bongos created the distinct Island sound. We got up early to attack the beach & water with a vengeance. Have to use this day to get the last full beach & water day in. Number One reason to come here. Kind of leaves you a bit saddened to be leaving the Island tomorrow. Went about 500 ft out snorkelling up to the swimming area buoy lines to see more of my turtle friends than I have ever seen, until sharky showed up. It was a nurse shark about 3-4 ft long. Hope it wasn't part of a group of them? So I just continued to underwater explore and also seeing a puffer fish doing this hour journey. My new split fins can reach speeds of 35 mph. Just want to be sure you are reading this and wonder of this is true? NO, but they do propel me effortlessly through the water with the least amount of work though. This was the best time snorkelling my little heart out during this full 2 weeker. I must say experiencing this underwater adventure yourself and having that memory of what you see will linger forever in your mind. There will come a day when I physically can't do this eventually. Hope it's not before I am 75 in a dozen yrs. Lunch was just take out for Sharkbite. 2 big bowls of the best Island Conch chowder(Bay Bistro a close 2nd & le Bouchon a 3 rd) and cracked conch. Went right back out to the final beach afternoon. Bliss. Got a bowl of Conch chowder from Bay Bistro(takeout0 @ 5pm to have for tomorrow's breakfast. Got our final Island gift shopping done and went for our final dinner. Baci's(Turtle Cove) for the full pounder of Lobster & snails for the starter of mouth food(rule is--you have to eat off the utensil of your spouse--romanatic). John(owner) got his 2nd $2 bill age serial number to remember us by and his staff got their special age bills too. Awesome to leave impressions upon the Island like this. Now I spent time with the family this last night. I was on call @ the Casino--but they didn't call me--I wonder why? About 9pm we seen some lights (actually 3) coming from the Bight Reef underwater area. There were snorkelers in the water! I almost wanted to join them but I promised my 4 girls they have me tonight. Well, this was the last night(14) on the Island. What a super trip, reflecting upon all we have packed in that time allows. Hope you can use some of what I have reported here to use for future T&C plans? You can PM me for specifics. It was a full 2 weeker I must say. Day 15--departure is coming. DR. JIM

I have out off asking this but it keeps coming up and my curiosity is getting the better if me. What is the $2 bill thing that you keep referring to? Us Canadians did have some very nice $2 once but I am missing the joke.

Sounds like you had a great trip, I am envious of your 14 days. We onky get to do 7 :(

DR. JIM, I've read most of your reports and have enjoyed them. That's what it is all about on vacation. Most of the things you experienced is what I generally like to do with my family. The more you snorkel the more you find. The lights underwater at the bight are night dives from caicos adventures (done it) You know if you really wanted to get upclose to a lot of sealife, scuba is the way to go, or if you can't do that snuba is a great option. Thanks for your stories

I've been looking at purchasing split fins...glad to hear they do work the way they somewhat claim! Still having a hard time shelling out (no pun) $200.00 for a pair of fins I only use maybe 3 times a year. Regardless of this, enjoyed your reports. I also can't believe your 2 weeks have come and gone already. At least you still have that secret 5 day trip still on the go!
