Day 9 - our last full day on Provo. We were total beach bums again just soaking up the remaining hours of 10 days of GORGEOUS weather; not a drop of rain and just enough breeze to keep comfortable. Our last few days saw Grace Bay go summertime flat and that was what I wanted my hubby to see.... he could NOT get over how clear and beautiful that water is. The bluest of blues and the whitest of powder soft sand... the perfect combination!! No matter how many photos one sees...you have to witness it yourself to understand. That evening we returned to the Zen Garden at Somerset to listen to Nada but they were performing at a wedding elsewhere so we had a couple of drinks and some appies ..... the bartender makes the BEST chocolate martinis ever !!! Upon leaving we realized that the wedding with Nada playing was next door at the Sibonne so we sat on a lounge and listened for a while.... it was lovely. Afterwards we went to the Casino determined to leave just a bit more $ behind on Provo which of course we did ! :>)
Day 10- on our last morning I walked the beach for the last time with my friend and her 2 dogs and greedily squeezed in some more beach time before check-out. Then hubby and I walked over to Saltmills Cafe for lunch. WOW- we wished we had gone there earlier in our stay... the food was really good, great prices and in my opinion their Conch Fritters are as good if not BETTER than the Conch Shack!! Try them!! We arrived at the airport 2 hours before our flight to Toronto and although there wasn't a line-up outside it was organized mayhem once inside. We were packed in like sardines !! Note to self: don't depart on a Saturday hahah!!
Misc. Thoughts and Highlights
Having never rented a condo b4 on vacation we found that we really enjoyed being able to stay in for lunch or dinner and relax instead of going out to dine all the time; a condo is a nice option.
We always tip well and daily but the housekeeping we had at the Sands was below par so upon check-out we spoke to the supervisor on the front desk. Whether they followed- up or not we have no way of knowing but we felt that the front line should know that there were issues and the cleanliness levels need improvement. Also Terry on the front line is a great fun guy; one of the few we met at the Sands.
On Saturday night May 1st we celebrated our 1 year anniversary
at Coco Bistro and it was simply FANTASTIC !!! The ambiance, the service and the food ALL surpassed our expectations !! And since they knew it was our anniversary, they surprised us with a HUGE slice of their famous Coconut Creme Pie- complete with candles and Happy Anniversary drizzled in chocolate...... compliments of the restaurant. Now how sweet was that?? We can't wait to return to Coco Bistro- my new fav Provo restaurant !!!
Lastly- more than anything it made me so very happy to see how much my husband enjoyed his introductory trip to Turks and Caicos. Provo has held a very special place in my heart since 1990 when I first laid eyes on that glorious beach. And yes the island has changed and yes one must be more careful and cognizant of these changes. But somehow Grace Bay Beach has the power to soothe the soul.....and this I hope will never change.
I was so over the moon to return after 9 long years to 'my happy place' and to be able to return with my new husband made it even more special. And NOW he's addicted too !!!!!!!!
DONTCHA JUST LOVE IT WHEN A PLAN COMES TOGETHER!!;>)
