Trip Report

We stayed at Beaches resort April 23-29. We had a pool walkout 2 bedroom suite and it was absolutely beautiful. The beach has very soft sand and crystal clear blue water. We went scuba diving one day on a private charter with Flamingo Divers and it was just OK. The boat is older and the gas fumes were awful. However, the owners were vey nice and took good care of us. We also did a private charter with Big Blue with our friends for an island day out with lunch. The Catamaran on the website looks great but when we got there the boat was old and not like the pictures. We still had a good time. One night the adults went to the casino and it is very small but still fun. Even managed to win a little. The rest of the time we stayed at the resort and had a cabana which was great to sun or get in the shade and the drink service was quick. All employees at Beaches are exceptionally nice and helpful. Can't wait to go back. The kids very much enjoyed the waterpark and all the activities at Beaches. (teenagers) If you have small children they will love it, we saw Elmo, Big Bird, and Cookie Monster ever day walking around.

Thanks for the report. Happy to hear both the good and the bad. Glad you had a good time and enjoyed your trip. It always makes it so worth it.

I think we'll try the casino at least once...but we don't take much money...I get upset if we lose even $40.00...guess I'm more than a little frugal about some things...LOL

I read some reviews where people said the casino was musty but we didn't experience that at all. There a guards out front that use the wand over your body and check your purse. They were very nice. Even though it's small they have all the table games and enough slots to keep you busy. I won $300 on a $1 slot and the guy next to me won $500 on a 50 cent slot. I hope you win.... if not it's still fun. They also serve alcohal for free.

Is the Flamingo the boat that Beaches takes all of their divers out on. I'm really sensitvie to fuel smells expecially when I'm on the water; it makes me nauseous.

My husband and I are going to spend 4 days at beaches next April before we stay in a villa (RWI) for a week. We figured it would be worth the money to have the 2 dives included per day but if the dive operators aren't that good or the boat has really bad gas fumes, we may just try to get another 4 days at RWI and go with another dive company.

Any suggestions?

No, Flamingo Divers is a small dive boat. Beaches has a very large newer boat. The reason we chose to dive with Flamingo is we wanted a private charter because I was told that Beaches takes 8 divers in the water per dive master and our son is 14 and has only been certified since Oct. 2010. I was uncomfortable going down with that many divers and wanted one master diver to keep an eye on our son. We were also at Beaches over spring break and I read that they cram alot of people in their dive boat when the resort is fully booked.
