Flamingos at The Cultural Center in between Ocean Club East and Club Med (curried grouper), Bugaloo's on the beach in Five Cays (conch salad), Smokey's in the courtyard/office complex near the entrance to The Alexandria (all of it).

Others I haven't tried are Fresh Catch in The Saltmills, Three Queens in Blue Hills, Miss Moonies on Leeward Hwy near the main circle for Grace Bay.

A map with most or all of these is on www.wherewhenhow.com

Rickie's Flamingo Cafe actually has a sign up now, directly opposite the Provo Golf Club, take the sand road beside OPUS at Ocean Club. Fresh Catch is under the underpass in The Saltmills open for lunch, do not think they are open late for dinner as yet. As always, ask about specials for your best bets.

The prices are just crazy over here...this is the most expensive island I have ever been, and I've been to 8 islands prior to this trip ; again, so far Bugaloo is on my top 3 places from my now 9 islands when it comes to food/price ratio

Across from Alexandra is Middle Caicos Cafe

Pattys is across from Ocean Cub West

If you have a car, Ed night ribs at tiki hut are $14

IGA Gourmet has prepared foods with daily specials you can get to go, everything from pizza to roteserrie chicken, to ribs, fried chicken, etc

Miss moonies close to round about on why at Seven Stars, has very reasonable prices, actually open 24 hours.

Have you been to Manhattan? Look around... we are an entire country of common folk... extraordinary yes, and we all manage to feed ourselves.

The islands around us, Haiti, Dominican Republic and Cuba may be less expensive for various reasons. Personally I did not find The Bahamas less expensive.

As an explanation, just the facts, short version:

We have NO deep water port. Do you see cruise ships? Our saving grace is also our downfall. EVERYTHING is imported via plane or boat. Smaller shallow draft ships cost more to run and hold less food/goods. We pay duty on everything, that funds the govt. The 11% accomodation and restaurant tax helps offset the high cost of hosting visitors. We are a small country, imagine what is left behind by 300,000 on an island inhabited by 20,000.

Power is expensive due to importing fuel. Take YOUR power bill and multiple the kilowat hours by 50 cents. Hmmmmm. Are you beginning to get it? No sham. We do genuinely wish to share our beautiful beaches and peaceful nature with you. The cost is high - we hope you find it... Priceless.

There are no 'decent prices' seafood restaurant. Even seafood at the supermarket are understandably and exorbitantly priced. The saving grace is the fisherman at the rotary, with coolers of daily fresh catch...
