Restaurant and Nightlife questions...

Is there a dress code at any of the restaurants, like Coco Bistro or any of the other upscale restaurants (e.g., no sandals for men)? I made a reservation at Coco Bistro and planned to wing the rest of the trip so we aren't on a schedule. Do other restaurants require or have a long wait (longer than an hour) to get a table (e.g., Le Bouchon)?

Also nightlife, do things shut down relatively early? Where are some good places to grab a late night drink with local bands?

None that I go to have dress codes including Coco Bistro. Sandals and shorts are fine, most guys wear a collared shirt. Anacaona used to have a no shorts policy, not sure they do anymore.

When are you going? I would get reservations once you get there for the nicer places or you won't get in during peak season.

I like to go to Somewhere... for local music.

Only Anacaona has a dress code. (long pants and collars)

Nightlife, not much, it does shut down. Live bands at dinner end 9-10.

Low key bars, Vix, Sand Dollar, Danny Bouys, on weekends start around 10, maybe around midnight move to Jimmys Dive Bar. Stress low key and mainly on weekends (unless sports game on tvs, or karaoke)

Gansevoort has dj on Fridays and Saturday's

Casino gets going around midnight. Off peak closed on Sunday's. Stay open until 4-5 am. Tiny place.

You can always get a night pass at Club Med, which is the really only nightlife on island. Night pass can include dinner, or you can get it starting at 10 pm. Includes drinks.

Thanks blamona for all the info! We aren't looking for a club scene just somewhere lively, and you gave us some great options.
