Casablanca Casino WINS

I'm not sure I'll be able to drag my husband to the casino due to the sketchiness factor I've read about and the negative reviews I've seen about no one ever winning. However, I have developed a recent passion for Blackjack and think it would be a fun, late night! So, my question is simply: Has anyone WON? Would love to hear recent experiences....good, bad or otherwise....

I agree with lolabeach, Dr Jim knows the casino but here's my 2 cents:

I didn't find the casino to be sketchy at all. Everyone has a different opinion though. I was scared before heading down to Provo just from reading reviews on here. St the time i booked my vacation there were a few incidents that terrified me. We almost cancelled and now looking back I just shake my head. We are glad we didn't put too much value in some of the reviews or else we would have missed out on a great vacation. We learned as I said earlier everyone has a different opinion or experience.

With that said we decided to visit the casino and see for ourselves. Despite what we read, we felt safe but still proceeded with caution (I was cautious in Vegas too because you can get robbed there as well). We walked to the casino one night from our hotel and found others doing the same. Yes they do have security right outside the door and yes they do have metal detectors BUT in my opinion that only added to the safety of it. We were in Provo for a week and visited the casino about 5 nights. I wouldn't recommend wearing expensive jewelry or carrying around a designer bag but even if i wasn't visiting the casino I wouldn't walk around the island wearing these items to begin with. I never do when on vacation. It's a great way of making yourself a target. Leave all of that at home. Just use the same precautions you would at home.

We played texas hold em. I didn't win but that could have been my lack of knowledge of the game and bad luck. My husband played black jack and from what we remember he broke even. It's all about luck. The slot machines seemed tight. One machine paid little bonuses but not enough to get a big win. I would stick to a table game if you want to maximize your chance of winning.

Also, the casino will pick you up for free from where you're staying and once you're ready to go back to your hotel they will again drive you there, just tip the driver. The drivers were friendly and we got to know them and security from going there a few nights. Definitely visit the casino and have fun!!

Good luck : )

I believe in any casino you have a poor chance of winning at games of chance. Games of skill are another story. You have more control of that. Set an amount you're willing to lose and that's the cost of your night's entertainment.

Lyonfish WINS! How did you know I was in O.R. this afternoon/evening? Actually for 3 patients the past 10 hours. Now to answer travelbugs40 questions/concerns about the Casablanca Casino on Provo. YES. Both DR. VICKI and I have over the years @ Blackjack21. They have 8 Blackjack tables with $5-$10 minimum to $500-$1000 maximums depending on times, crowds and nightly conditions. They offer your average BJ table playing conditions with average shoe/deck penetration. Casino's edge over most average BJ players is about 4%, a basic strategy player about 1%, a card counter has an edge of about 1-2% and a card tracker(which I am) has about a 4-5% edge over the Casino. They have 2 Single green number Roulette Wheels(European type) $5 minimum betting which have a casino edge of 2.7% over all the players. Agent James Bond's number is "17"---Agent6256's number is "0" Green. They have about 100 electronic slot machines with some progressive jackpots with various denominations which have a casino's edge of 15-25%. There is one full size Crap table that has 58 different bets that range from 1.5% to 16.5% houses edge with double odds offered. Avoid the center table area sucker, long bets and stick with playing the Pass Line with true house odds to reduce the Houses's edge down to 0.6%. Poker is offered some nights in another area of the Casino. Drinks are free to the players. And as many times I have been in the Casablanca Casino, I still wonder if they have a defibrillator on the premises or do I perform a precordial thump to get someone out of V-tach? DR. JIM

I just hope dr J isn't reading TA during the surgeries. Pretty sure that's a no no.

Whenever I play Blackjack I'm always reminded at the amount of people who play and don't really know how. If you do everything by the book and play correctly you are still at a slight disadvantage. And if you are just starting and still getting your bearings (and everyone at the table will notice that) you are at a major disadvantage. Unless you get lucky and win false hope
