Thoughts on Long Bay

Hey guys what are your thoughts on Long Bay area compared to the rest? It seems like it is private but closer to Grace bay than Taylor. Anyone know anything about the area?

Definitely more private than the Grace Bay area and certainly closer to GB than Taylor Bay is. Shorter drive to restaurants and grocery store. Long Bay is where a lot of kite boarding goes on.

How do the beaches compare to Grace we trying to make a decision. Is the water as nice I read it is much more windy. Is the water as nice for people swimming?

Grace Bay Beach is much better in my opinion. Long Bay is very windy and with the wind can be very choppy, thus a great place to kite board. If this is your first trip to the island I suggest staying directly on Grace Bay.

What KeAter said

The beach is not as nice as Grace Bay. If this is your first trip to Provo, stay on Grace Bay, visit Long Bay and then decide what you prefer for future trips

Grace bay has a much bigger beach and calm winds, water is like a lake alot.so if like floating on a raft and enjoying the crowds,it's best..Long bay is about renting a villa and beach is very small and winds are constant out of ESE at 16-22mph so water has some waves and flow to it like an ocean, but milder, perfect to swim in and only 5ft deep out like 100 yards..sand is good, alot of it is hard and wet.Long bay is about 15 degrees cooler in the air and no bugs at all,due to winds out of the east..if thinking of renting a villa,Long bay is much better than Taylor bay or Sapodillo bay imo..closer to Grace bay and rest and grocery.plus it has a marina close by to rent wave runners and tours,, and boats..it's all subjective to what you like in a beach and if a resort guy or villa guy..imo gl..it's all great no matter what you choose..

As an aside, most of villas in Long Bay are not where the majority of kite boarders hang out. The rental villas tend to be in Long Bay Hills, which is about 3/4 of the beachfront of Long Bay itself. Kite Beach (as it is called locally) is to the east end of the bay, close to the Shore Club development.

There are often kiteboarders at Windhaven (about 1/2 way along the beach) as the marketing for that villa is geared to that clientele, but nothing like the number further up the bay.

Try either Turtle Cove or Keeward area, both actually blend with Grace Bay

Long Bay also has broken conch shells in the water. Gorgeous villas though, but if staying in one you'll find yourself going to other beaches sometimes

Kite boarding - yes. Beach like South of France - definitely. Want just the beach - Grace Bay. Want snorkelling - near Turtle Cove and so on ... Everywhere is perfect. Just work out if you need a car rental and that will help decide.
