Which Virgin Island?

We have two kids ages 12 and 8 and just starting to research for a trip next year. They both love the water and any activities on the water or beach. All the islands look beautiful. Which one is better? We all love good food, especially our 12 year old-loves seafood. Any suggestions on places to stay to get us stared looking. Everything looks so nice.

Probably a resort but still not sure. We would most likely be vacationing in late June or July. As for price between 300-500 per night. Not sure if that is even possible as I have not even researched price. Thanks again for any help.

Take a look on www.vrbo.com for East end St Thomas condo rentals at Sapphire/Crystal Cove and Secret Harbour. Both of these locations boast beautiful beaches and the advantage to a condo rental is having your own kitchen so you can make some of your own food, particularly when there are children involved. Both locations are close to Red Hook from where you can take the inter-island ferry to St. John (a 10 minute ride) and the neighboring British Virgin Islands. The dining options on St Thomas are many and variable!

Thanks - That is exactly what we would be looking for especially with a pool. Are any of the other locations ok or just Sapphire/Crystal Cove and Secret Harbour. Thanks for your help.

When on the island should you rent a car or does it depend on where you stay? Thanks again!

Look at the Westin or Caneel on STJ. They would be my choice.

doyle: I absolutely recommend renting a car wherever you stay here. Public transportation is unreliable, its proscribed routes are limiting and taxis charge per person so that gets very expensive, We drive on the left here but the speed limit is 35 MPH and the usual driving speed is 20-25 MPH, so nothing to worry about where that's concerned. There's so much to see and do!

If you stay on St Thomas you'll definitely want to hop over to St John and, as long as you don't rent from Hertz which doesn't allow their cars to go over there, you can take your rental car on the car barge and explore that island. Hope that answers your question.
