Birdwatching Excursions

Our visit to St Thomas is a month away and we're looking forward to some great snorkeling opportunities at Sapphire Beach (where we are staying), and perhaps a day trip over to St John's. We are also interested in flora & fauna ... are there any good bird watching spots that we could explore? We won't be renting a vehicle.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions :)

There's a local Audubon chapter that goes out at least once a month. Mario Francis is the president, I think, and you can find him via Google.

Friends of the VI National Park have a bird watch on their season schedule. Again, Google can point you to the schedule.

You'll see parrots if you recognize their sound. They look like the parrots of Telegraph Hill. You'll see white egrets most any where.
