Just got back from our trip to St. Thomas. We had such a great time. My husband and I went for a little get-away vacation. A little bit about us to get an idea of where we are coming from for the review. We are in our 30s, we are athletic, we work hard and like to play hard. We don't mind splurging but are also money conscious.
Ok, so let's get to the review of the Ritz Carlton. I have attached some links to pictures (I hope it works).
We stayed at the Ritz Carlton in an ocean view room. I think the ocean view is a must if you are going to stay in this property as the view is beautiful.
This is a fairly large property so they have golf carts to take you to where you need to be. We were in the far end building and walked to the front half the time. It is not a far walk but the golf carts were convenient when you have gear to carry or wearing heels :)
The staff at the hotel was nice. The room was clean and well stocked with anything we needed (i.e. tooth brush, plenty of toiletry , towels, etc.). The rooms are cleaned twice (turn down) daily.
The pool is very nice. We didn't have any problems with the pool being crowded as it was off season when we went so we pretty much had the pool to ourselves. I was even able to do some yoga there.
Sails is the outdoor bar/restaurant next to the pool. The drinks were average priced for a resort. The food was also reasonably priced.
The beach area at the resort was very nice. They rake it daily if not more than that. We enjoyed the fact that the beach chairs had cushions and covers for those who don't want too much shade. We also got to enjoy the hammocks under the tree overlooking the ocean. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php…
The water sports area was well stocked with Hobbie sailboats, paddle boards, kayaks (with glass bottoms), windsurfing, paddle boats, and more. Those were all I could remember. The staff was very friendly.
The Great Bay Lounge was the only restaurant open for dinner (Blue Water was closed). I thought the service we had there was not very good but I think we just had a bad waiter. I saw other tables with different wait staff that was very attentive. We almost walked out but decided to give it a shot. I have to say that the food here was a bit overpriced however, it was very good. We had the lobster mac-n-cheese for an appetizer and it was AMAZING. I have had lobster mac-n-cheese from many other places but this was probably the best I have had. The lobster chunks were very large and the cheese consistency was perfect, almost like an alfredo sauce. It came out very hot (how it should be). I definitely recommend it. For dinner we had the snapper with risotto and a salad with grilled shrimp. We each had a coctail and the bill was right around $120 plus tip.
The location of the property is on the east end of the island. It is close to Coki beach and a 25 min drive to the airport (with traffic and the winding road). I would definitely recommend this hotel. I tried to include lots of photos.Edited: 15 September 2013, 03:14
