best spot to buy groceries

If heading to Bluebeard from the airport what groceries can be accessed on the way there?

Pueblo has moderate prices and Gourmet Gallery in Compass Point Marina has a wider selection of wine, beer liquor. Both have parking and are quick in and out. Tickles next to Gourmet Gallery is a good place to grab a drink and a bite. We provision at both when we are sailing.

Gourmet Gallery has 2 locations Crown Bay Marina and Havensight.

There is no grocery in Compass Point.

The closest grocery shopping on the airport to Bluebeards Castle route is Pueblo Sub base or Crown Bay Gourmet Gallery.

If you are headed to Bluebeards Beach Club facility - you will also pass the Pueblo in Long Bay and the Havensight G. Gallery

Thanks localsailor, I meant Crown Bay. I had Compass Point on the brain today...

If you're coming in late on a Saturday afternoon, some popular items may be sold out and new stock won't arrive until Monday. Be flexible when planning your menus during your stay, because you never know what's NOT going to be there.

Gourmet Gallery has an excellent deli with a salad bar and some hot prepared food, so it's very convenient if you want something quickly. Great sandwiches, too, at very good prices. Just don't expect them to move very quickly when processing your request.

If like the Costco shopping style, try Cost U Less by Home Depot in the middle of the island. They have good prices on liquor and offer beer sold in cases. If you just want six packs of beer, check out the new Walgreens. They were cheaper than the grocery store in Red hook. Beef was fairly priced compared to stateside. Eggs run about $3.19/doz. Milk is not cheap. Cereal was only a bit more than stateside. Food Center was a decent store in Red Hook. They have a great meat counter with marinated chicken breast for like $5.99/lb. They have a nice deli with fresh salads. Prices at the deli were comparable to stateside.

I also recommend the food center which is down the road from Red Hook. You can basically get everything you need. As stated by CarlP, they have a very good selection of meats. The steaks, i thought were excellent on the BBQ... They also sell cooked chickens which comes in handy in a pinch and they were a decent size and comparable to state side prices.

As localsailor said, "The closest grocery shopping on the airport to Bluebeards Castle route is Pueblo Sub base or Crown Bay Gourmet Gallery."

Food Center is miles out of the way and not at all convenient for someone staying at Bluebeard's when there are much closer options.

The Gourmet Gallery in Crown Bay does not have the 'hot food or salad bar' option - only the Havensight store offers that.

The Texas Pit BBQ free standing store across from Nisky Center in Sub Base does have excellent and well priced hot food BBQ - chicken, ribs, brisket and combos.
