What part of St John USVI is best to rent a house

Looking to rent a house in St John USVI in November. Which part of the island would anyone recommend?

You'll get a different answer from each person who might reply. I personally like the Catherineberg, or mid-island Bordeaux Mtn/Mamey Peack area but if you want to be close to Cruz Bay you may want to be in the Great Cruz Bay/Chocolate Hole area.

There's really no 'bad' area.

It is true, you could get as many responses as there are villas on island. We enjoy quiet and easy access to the water and snorkeling. We have rented in Rendezvous Bay for over a dozen years. And, we have been all over the island and that Bay is still our favorite to return to at the end of the day...10 mins to Cruz Bay, about 25 to Coral Bay and 15-20 to North Shore beaches. We LOVE it all.

Do you have a budget? Do you need central A/C or just in bedrooms? Pool? Spa?

To each is own...but I love the Mamey Peak, Bordeau mt. area...great views, easy access to North Shore beaches and Coral Bay just down the hill...I think you are hard pressed to find a bad place on St. John.

We love the Coral Bay side of STJ. Very laid back, great places to eat, Lilly's market is right there to shop for food and close to beaches (Big Maho, Little Maho, Francis, Salt Pond) but most of all, Vie's conch fritters.

Couple of thoughts for you...

If you find a villa that's perfect for your crew from a space, price, amenities, views, etc. standpoint, I wouldn't let location be a deciding factor. The island is only 8 miles long and you can be just about anywhere in a half-hour or less.

That being said, if you do plan on eating dinner out a lot and typically eat later in the evening (and like put a few back), you might want to stay closer to Cruz Bay (biggest concentration of restaurants/bars) so your drive back to the villa afterward is pretty short.

Looking for A/C, pool, at least 4 bedrooms, would prefer 5. Would like to be near beach and town. As far as budget, do not want the $20,00.00 a week chateau! Trying to keep below 5500-6000 for week. Any info would be much appreciated!

Check out Ristaba. Plenty of space for a group your size. It is in Choc. Hole, and in your price range.

Also, look at Ambiance: It is listed as a 4 bedroom, but has an upstairs 5th bedroom loft.
