gallow point St John or Crystal Cove St. Thomas

The price for either is fine. We would like uncrowded. Beautiful views and beaches, some deep sea fishing, Snorkeling, I would love to be on the beach with all the other amenities of St. John, but haven't been able to find it. Don't know enough about either island to make a good decision. Any suggestions?

I have not been to either of the resorts you're asking about, but have stayed on both St. Thomas and St. John and there is NO comparison. The answer is simple: Stay on St. John. The beaches are fabulous, the views are to die for, and there are no cruise ship crowds...you will absolutely LOVE St. John.

There is absolutely no comparison between Gallows Pt and Crystal Cove.

There is a snorkeling beach at Gallows. You will have to walk quite a distance to anything resembling the beautiful beaches on St John if you stay at Crystal Cove.

We have stayed at both. Some years ago, we were forced to stay during our winter trips at either Crystal Cove or Sapphire Beach on St Thomas, as the cost of a winter rental on St John was prohibitive. They are pretty competetive now.

I have stayed at both places. We stayed several years ago in the A building at Crystal Cove nearest their beach in a very nicely appointed condo. The resort is right on a very nice beach although for half of the time the ocean was too rough for snorkeling. After some day trips to St John we have spent the last 3 years there, and stayed in Gallows in April. Gallows has no sandy beach but otherwise its much nicer. The pool at Crystal Cove is not nice and well away from the beach. Gallows pool and hot tub overlook the water and the snorkeling is great off the deck. And you can walk into town at night to dinner without taking the car. St John has nicer beaches, less crowded and congested, has hiking, and is a more beautiful island.
