Van or Jeep

Hello!

Which would you recommend for travel in St. John Van or Jeep? I understand a jeep would be better but I need the space of the van.

"Courtesy" on the island rents Explorers which seat 6 comfortably. 4 wheel drive and space. I know you can also get them on STT to.

As everyone here knows, I am of the mindset that a 4WD on island is a must for most everyone. 5 years of island life, 2 of which I drove a front wheel drive vehicle, taught me that a wet switchback with a water truck in the oncoming lane = nightmare without 4WD.

Is there a chance that you will spend your entire trip never needing it? Of course.

For me, it is that one time you may need it the entire trip that makes it worth it.

I will add that if you are renting a villa contact the agency regarding road and driveway. Many require 4 wheel drive.
