Asked for info on this villa last year and got one reply. Has anyone stayed in Coral Oasis in the past year??
Haven't stayed there but it looks lovely:)
Staying there in Feb, can let you know about it then if that helps.
We leave next week for St. John so I'll let you know how Coral Oasis is.
Thanks. This will be our first trip to SJ so really have no idea what to expect. We are traveling with our daughter in law who just found out she is pregnant so I am a little concerned about mosquitoes and if they are a problem at the villa.
We've been to St. John quite a few times and while there are some mosquitos they are no where near as bad as a summer evening in upstate New York. Keeping the screens and doors shut (without small kids this isn't a problem) and you shouldn't have a problem. Will let you know about this house when we return at the end of the month.
Just returned from 2 weeks at Coral Oasis Villa on Mamey Peak in St. John. We loved the villa, its view, and its decor. We had no problem at all with mosquitos as its very breezy at the villa all the time. That is the advantage of being so high up- the breeze and the view. To get up every morning to a beautiful sunrise and a view of 6 or 7 islands and the gorgeous caribbean was a real treat. While the road leading to the house is horrible you forget the bone jarring ride as soon as you open the courtyard doors and see the view. We never needed air conditioning. Opening the windows and letting the breeze blow through was perfect. The vivacations rep was very thorough in her "walk through" the house. Their office was quick to answer any questions we had. The gardeners and the pool guy were extremely nice. Do yourself a favor and ask how to restart the water pump. It seems to go off every day and needs to be turned back on. Other than that we had no problems of any kind. The best grocery store as far as buying veggies or meat or fish to grill is still Starfish in Cruz Bay but Love City in Coral Bay is still the best prices for everyday canned goods and supplies on that end of the island. Thought that Lilys market had gone downhill since our last trip to St. J. Had wonderful dinners at Shipwreck Landing and Aqua Bistro in Coral Bay and went into Cruz to delicious Lobster dinner at Morgans Mango a few times. Picked up scrumptious BBQ at Uncle Joes in Cruz. I want those ribs again!mmmmm DON'T miss the jazz brunch at Miss Lucys on Sunday. Get there at 9am- bring a book- they open at 10 and its packed well before that. The view is so great the hour wait passes quickly. You will love Coral Oasis and St. John- rent a car and explore from end to end. Have fun!
We were just on Mamey Peak in January. The breezes are nice and it was pretty dry so the mosquitoes were not bad at all. However, since your pregnant daughter-in-law wants to be careful and there has been dengue fever in St John, she might want to make sure she uses bug spray (but check if that's ok too-so much to worry about when you're pregnant)
