Im trying to find some “reasonable” accommodations for my family on St. John this July. Man this place looks beautiful, but cheep it ain’t! There’s me, my wife and my three girls, 17, 15, and 9. Caneel is out and so is the Weston at $900+/night for a villa (1BR villa!). I’ve looked at Gallows, and that may be my best bet, but can anyone tell me if I’m missing some nice spot on the water. We’re used to Casa Del Mar in Aruba which is a time share condo spot on a beautiful beach with crashing waves. I know St. John is not Aruba and that’s fine. We’re looking to explore a new spot and this area looks perfect for its beauty, shopping and island hopping. So, ideally we’d like to be on the water and some place with a bit of a “resorty” atmosphere. Am I’m I kidding myself about finding something that isn’t an eco lodge for less than $250/night?? I’d be open to all suggestions!
