1. Re: Using resort amenities

The two resorts are Caneel and the Westin.

Caneel welcomes outside guests to dine at the restaurants. The bar area is right on the beach and is very nice. There is a second level terrace as well. Caneel's pool is located away from the beach and only accessible to resort guests. There isn't food/bev service there anyway so you aren't missing anything. Caneel security tends to be right on top of outside visitors who stray from the main dining/beach area so don't be surprised if you are approached.

I suspect the Westin allows outside visitors as well but it has been years since I was there so hopefully someone else will chime in.

Cancel allows use of their main beach but not chairs, etc. no pool usage

The Westin is more lenient with their pool area but as far as I know, they "technically" do not allow it.

You can dine at both resorts

That is correct no pool use at either but they want your money at the restaurants. We have purchased drinks and food at the pool and did get in for a bit so as long as your spending money the Westin wont bother you but just be respectful of the guests that are paying for those amenities.

I believe that you could schedule a 2 hour time share tour at the Westin and get $100 voucher for Cruz Bay restaurants and spend the entire day using their facilites.
