Best Snorkel Beaches for kids

Hi All....

I love this travel site...I am going to St John August 4-11...

Would like to know the best beaches for 9-13 year olds that are

great for snorkeling wih shallow coral reefs other than trunks bay...

We are staying on the Coral Bay east side of the island...

thanks

We stayed in Coral Bay too and Maho Bay is great, snorkeling is good right along the shore by Maho Bay camps.

In St. John with two children ages 5 and 15. Would highly recommend Hawksnet and Trunk Bay. ( Trunk can be a bit crowded; but has a snorkeling trail with marked signs.) Leinster Bay was good....saw lots of starfish and sea turtles. Waterlemon Cay has a strong current and would try to avoid that with kids!

Frances is fantastic for kid snorkelers too. There is much to see in only knee deep water. Plus there are lots of turtles all day.

Really loved Hawksnest (shallow coral reefs...many fish to see, plus rays; easy swim/snorkel along shoreline to nearby Gibney Beach...so pretty); Frances was nice, too (turtles, pelicans fishing, shallow reefs by the rocky point - drops off a bit between shore and point, just fyi); Salt Pond...calm waters, lots to see; loved Leinster Bay, too (you walk a trail to get to it...hint, don't carry lots of stuff!) While you're there, be sure to walk through the Annaberg Ruins...lots of history and the view is fabulous! Didn't make it to Lameshur (near where you'll be),but hear it's terrific for what you are looking for! :-)
