Hey guys. So we are going to rent a Jeep on St Thomas and bring it over to St John on the car ferry. I had thought of just taking the passenger ferry to St John and renting there but it seems like more of a hassle and after adding the cost of a taxi it might not be cheaper at all.
So for our five nights in November I did get two rates for a four door Jeep Wrangler:
Dependable...$400 all-in including taxes
Amalie...........$535 all-in including taxes
At first blush it would seem Dependable is a no-brainer and we did rent from them twice prior with no major issues. But if I recall their Jeeps are pretty beat up and I don't believe they offer full service on St John although we are allowed to bring the Jeep there. Amalie has new 2014 Jeeps and does offer full service on St John. Sometimes I think a used car rental is better as dings, etc don't show up as easily but a new Jeep does sound tempting!
What do you guys think? Is $135 more worth going with Amalie? Thanks.Edited: 16 March 2014, 18:34
