Any locals comment on this? I know that you can get out to Pelican Point from Vie's, but this is a little disappointing
We look forward to stopping there to kayak and have a drink (or two) on Angel's Rest.
So sad to read about the state of Hansen's Bay. Sounds like n friends are being made over this. It's a shame as we loved snorkeling there.
Thanks for the update. Perfect timing as we are still on STJ and have not made it over to the east end yet. We will have to try out this beach and grab a drink from Angel's Rest.
VI code adresses access. Commerical enterprizes MUST provide access to beach areas. ((from public right of way to sandy beach) THey can charge for parking but not for access. Same for multi-family constructed or improved after 1971. Any proptery sub-diveded after 1971 will show a public access easement as part of the site approved site plan. Residental beach are exempt from providing a publice access easment. HOwever all shoreline is public access up to the first line of vegitation.
We were at "vies beach" today. Paid the $2.50 and walked in without any problems. Only a few people there, looked to be from the house up on the hill to the right. Saw some kayaks strewn about but nobody there "renting" them. The beach is nice and quiet but the snorkeling is only so so.

We headed East on Monday hoping to stop at Vie's or Hansen and both were closed. Vie had a "closed" sign on her gate so no access there and a bit further down the road we could see the kayaks and such on the beach, but that gate was closed and locked too. There is a small path towards the eastern side next to the gates, but it didn't look very inviting so we went to Skinny Legs and had a burger instead!
Vies is closed on Mondays...we didn't see Angels Rest when we were there.

We were on island a week or so ago and spoke to Capt. Pete of Angel's Rest. If the white gate is closed (there is a chain draped over it but it isn't really locking it) go ahead and open the gate and park in there. They keep the gate closed so the donkeys stay out! Capt. Pete will usually open the gate once he arrives but we beat him to the beach both times we went to the East End. You can always call Capt. Pete to make sure he is going to be at the beach on a certain day. Always a fun time hanging on the boat and we love to sip our rum punches and spot turtles.
We were there Saturday with Pete. Well worth the drive. About an hour before Pete closed Vie was on the beach recording us. When people got on the beach they started recording Vie and began asking her questions, at that point she left.
What was the deal with recording people? Not sure I understand! :-)
Vie is not happy about the court decision against her. Suffice to say there's bad feelings....
