What do you explore next?

Just an opinion from experienced travelers: What do you explore next (other islands) if you love St. John? Thanks!

After 3 years vacationing in St John in a row, we tried the Big Island of Hawaii. Loved it! Except that ocean conditions were not ideal most of the week we were there. (late Oct/early Nov)

The two islands are very different in some ways but I think that both appeal to the same kind of traveler. Someday we'll return to the Big Island in the month of September when ocean conditions are guaranteed flat.

Look at Sandy Ground Estates on Jost Van Dyke. Check out Anguilla. We got the sense on Jost that it was St. John in a time warp - same kind of laid back vibe, but with a lot less development. And while most of the "action" is in White Bay, there are great restaurants in Great & Little Harbor as well. Sandy Ground is at the far east end of the island and is truly unique - you basically have your own beach, and it's a great one! As far as Anguilla goes, we prefer the upper east end by Shoal Bay East. The people on Anguilla are wonderful and friendly, the beaches are stunning and the food choices varied and top notch - I don't know what makes the Anguillan crayfish any different than any other Caribbean lobster, but I swear there's something deliciously different about it. We also echo the recommendations for Virgin Gorda and, if you're willing to invest the time, Hawaii, especially Kauai.

We tried Jamaica (yuck), St Lucia (lovely, pricey, very different, tough to drive, no snorkeling), St Martin (no snorkeling but very varied and we would go back there again) and of course the BVIs on multiple day trips. STJ with day trips to the BVIs keeps winning. Nice to have choices!

BVI and St Croix are our go to places. We stopped going to STT and STJ once we discovered STX.

We have been alternating with Grand Case in St Martin, and St John. Different, but both are enjoyable. There is some snorkeling in St Martin if you know where to go, but nothing like St John.
