I know you've calmed others before about weather forecasts..

but we're arriving on Tuesday and saw 60% chance of showers for 4 days! I remember that it doesn't rain all day long as it does up here but....

What will that do to clarity of the water?

I wish that we could ban tropical weather forecasts.

There is a chance that it will rain every day in the Caribbean. That means

a. it won't rain

b. it will rain for 10 minutes

c. it will rain for an hour on one side of the island

d. It will rain for 20 minutes all over the island

e. It will rain all day

The best way to know what the weather will do is to get up and look at the sky and plan your day. :)

Unfortunately it has a lot of impact to the clarity of the water because of the runoff. We usually travel to St. John in May and the past three years have been a huge disappointment. Yeah we will be on St John in May ths year, but for my wedding. I hope and pray for a little break this time. If not, I knew what I was getting myself into....

At least you won't have algea or the Sahara Sands. We've had such bad luck with conditions and snorkeling. It doesn't stop us from returning.

At least you don't have to pack shovels, ice picks, thermal undies and fur-lined boots to come here ...

Well said STT!! From up North here, I agree!

There is no worth in fretting over the weather.....it will be what it will be. You just have to make the best of any given situation. We have snorkeled in the rain. STJ beats the hectic pace of our every day lives any day.

Go and enjoy and here is hoping for good weather for you!!

Tink, you left one out:

f) it will rain overnight while you are asleep and you won't even care.

Have a great trip - don't worry about the forecast you see now - odds are that it will change day to day.

just got back from a week in st john. last may got skunked with continuous rain and it was no fun. this past week no rain at all during the day and the forecast a few days before did say there would be some rain. there is no way that you will be able to really predict what will happen in terms of rain. so my advice is to stop looking at forecasts.
