Honeymoon in Feb 2011

I am getting married in Feb 2011 and we are planning our Honeymoon! We are look at the Caribbean but are having a hard time picking a spot. Bahamas? Aruba? St. Lucia? Anyone have suggestions? Would love all of the help. Thank you!!

If you are looking at February be aware that cold fronts push through the Bahamas from the US and can make for cloudy, cool, and windy weather for a couple days per front at that time of year. These usually subside starting in March, but if we have another active weather year like this year they can occur with more frequency.

I would search for another location further south than the Bahamas.

My first visit, in early February 2005 was memorable in that

it was cool with highs around 80. It was breezy and the ocean

was barely 80 F. As the last post mentioned cold fronts have

made for some cold conditions this year down there. At night

a jacket or sweater was needed.

I definitely agree about heading farther south. Have you thought about St. John, USVI? I think the location all depends on what kinds of activities (snorkeling, diving, golf, casinos, shopping, nightlife, etc.) matter to you. The islands are so very different- you need to pin down what you are looking for first then people can give you ideas of where to find those things. Maybe even prioritize things and make a list. Also, do you want to stay in a small resort, large AI type place, rent a villa- those things matter, too.

Been to both Bahamas and St. Lucia in February. Bahamas was cooler and St. Lucia was hot. We went the last week in February for our trips. Both places are very nice. We prefer St. Lucia because the temps are warmer in February. We didn't get to enjoy the pools or ocean in Bahamas this past February because the water was too cold.

Thank you so much already for all of the help everyone! So St. Lucia or Aruba would be warmer? We are wanting (in this order) Water activities,

Night life,Shopping, Casinos. Or are we in the wrong direction?

Never been to Aruba, but here is what I know about St. Lucia.

We stayed at Sandals Regency La Toc Golf Course & Spa. Got married there in 2004 and visited again in 2009. The island itself is beautiful. While staying at Sandals, you can visit the other two resorts, so it is like 3 vacations in one.

At this resort, there are kayaks, and hobiecats. There is diving and snorkeling, but we didn't do either of those. The water is sometimes rougher at this resort, but the other two sandals it is calmer. The resorts do have entertainment onsite. There is an english pub that is open really late that we always had fun at. There is shopping in Castries, which is where the cruise ships port. There are no casinos on the island.
