Alcohol on the out islands

greetings,

we will be flying to Cat island and wondering is it best to fly a few bottles of alcohol from Nassau or is it better to buy on Cat. What are the avg prices fo a bottle of Rum. Thanks

You won't save money buying in Nassau versus Cat Island. The average prices of rum depend on the rum, but -- especially for local products -- they are better than the U.S. You'll save yourself the trouble of traveling with bulky bottles by buying on arrival.

Be sure to try the Ron Ricardo (Bahamian) flavored rums. They are great for sipping with an ice cube or two. The pineapple is a favorite, as is the mango.

I agree wuth RedSabre. Going to Cat Island you may spend a few dollars more per bottle, won't be a huge difference, but you don't need to worry about them breaking or the additional hassels. Just sit back and enjoy the beach with a nice cocktail.

Two Corners liiquor store in Old Bight will sometimes deliver right to your door - depending on where you're staying. There # IS 242 342 3169, good selection of wines and spirits. They will actually take your credit card over the phone and NOT charge a user fee. Michael's in Smith Bay also has a grocery/liquor store - located beside the one and only bank on the island.
