Bahamas for new year

Is the Bahamas hot enough over the new year to lounge about in swimwear?

Sometimes... but not always. You can usually find some sun to warm you.. but temps are usually high 60's to mid 70's.. and can be breezy.. (which can mean "sandy". )

If you get good weather.. that's a plus.. if not.. there's plenty other things to do.

Thanks, does that mean the seas get too rough to go snorkelling?

Beach surf conditions for snorkeling are mostly dependent on the wind direction. Onshore winds will generally make the surf rough. Hopefully you will be there when winds on the island you are snorkeling on are blowing offshore. Then the surf is usually calm.

Millsir - coming from Scotland (?!?) I'd think it would be plenty warm for you, if not balmy...!!!

For snorkeling (well, what island are you thinking of?) in the Nassau area (i.e. snorkel sites around Atholl & Rose Islands), if there's a sea on the North side you can usually snorkel on the South side, and vice versa - pretty good set up with the islands almost always providing a lee side :)

Happy Planning!
