Island Suggestion Needed

My wife and I are looking to get one more vacation in this Summer. Only stopped in the Bahamas off a cruise, so saw little. If we went for a 5 or 6 day trip, what island would be good to visit. We love a white, sandy beach with calm waters. Maybe an all inclusive resort. Snorkeling a plus and safety number one. Please advise.

Well Great Exuma seems like it has alot of what your looking for..Sandals Emerald Bay is an all inclusive resort on a gorgeous white sandy beach. Plus the island is very safe. And direct international flights from Miami,Fort Lauderdale, Atlanta and Toronto and daily flights from Nassau.

Consider the out islands of the Abacos. Green Turtle or Elbow Cay are relaxed, casual and authentic Bahamian destinations. On these islands you will be experiencing real towns where real people actually live. The good news is that they are great people. You will find their communities to be crime free, friendly and very relaxed. There is a great reef running along the Abacos and the beaches are practically empty and gorgeous. It does mean that you have to do more planning and research. An all inclusive resort is an entirely different experience that is more like Disney World or Las Vegas. The plus is that you don't have to do any planning. You sound like an experienced traveler so you probably know what suits you best.

Also check the vacation rentals. There are some real gems. While your meals will not be provided for you, you could eat out every night at different restaurants, and really explore the island and the people and get to know the real Bahamas.
