Comfort Suites vs. Atlantis

My husband and I are planning a trip in Nov. to the Bahamas for our anniversary. Actually it's going to be kind of a honeymoon since we weren't able to afford one when we got married 6 years ago! Anyways, we really want to go to Atlantis. We're planning on staying at the Comfort Suites since it's much cheaper and we'll have full access to Atlantis. My husband really wants to stay at the actual Atlantis hotel though and so we're considering staying a night or two there and the rest at Comfort Suites. I'll cost us about 300 extra for 2 nights. Anyone have any advice? Is it worth it? I'm definitly leaning towards no, we're just sleeping there.... Thanks for your help!

I'm not particularly a fan of Atlantis, but I think your husband is right. CS is a run of the mill hotel that's fine for sleeping. But I think it would be nice to stay "on the property" for a couple of nites. Especially if you can get a room with a balcony and a view.

CS doesn't have any harbour or beach views...

I am a believer of the complete package. I always tell people...if you are going to go to Disney, stay on property or you are missing out on half the experience. That said CS is just across the street from the Coral and Beach Towers, opposite Marina Village (so essentially, it's on property). IMO CS isn't far off in quality from The Beach Towers. I am not a big fan of either the Beach of Coral Tower....if you really want the full "Atlantis experience" you need to stay in the Royal Tower or above. The Beach and Coral Towers are older existing towers that were already there from the old Merv Griffin days...Atlantis just refurbished them. They don't have that WOW factor such as The Royal Tower and now the new Reef and Cove. That being said if cost is what you are most concerned with than you should be fine with CS...I don't know that moving up to the Beach Tower is going to change that much for you.

If I were you, I would stay at Comfort Suites, and use your savings for a really nice dinner or two. The price differential between Comfort Suites and Atlantis could buy dinner for two each night, with wine / drinks / dessert, at one of the nicer restaurants on Paradise Island.

As other people have said, several wings of Atlantis are older than Comfort Suites, and their rooms aren't any better. Even if you stay at the nicer parts of Atlantis, the view out your window might not be any better than if you'd stayed at Comfort Suites.

I stayed at Comfort Suites in February, and didn't regret choosing Comfort Suites over Atlantis. I had no trouble charging food / drinks at Atlantis to my room at Comfort Suites, and it was very easy to get the wristband I needed every day to use Atlantis' water slides. Then again, one of the highlights of the trip was going from 5 degrees in Minneapolis the morning I left, to 85 degrees in Nassau that afternoon :-)

Generolly Atlantis is a better catch if you got the extra cash its about 1-2 thousand just for 2 nights which is really high in price. :| Its a great resort I'll give it that they have EVERYTHING on the resort. Beaches, casino, dolphin cay, Aqua adventure...snorkeling tons of restaurants and clubs the list never ends but if your not a big resort person and don't spend much time there I recomend somewhere cheaper besides you can get a day pass and be able to do all the activities at atlantis for the day. It really depends on your budget...
