Sheraton Cable Beach vs. Atlantis

We are a family of 4 with two teenage girls. We currently have a reservation at the Sheraton Cable Beach resort over Thanksgiving. We have some friends who recently went to Atlantis and drove by the Sheraton and are now trying to convince us we should make the switch. There's no doubt that Atlantis is a better place, but we're trying to figure out if it is really worth the extra cost (an addtional $2400 on top of the $3300 we are already planning to spend).

Can anyone compare the two? We're wondering about aspects such as:

-- food. It's clear that you eat at Atlantis if you stay there, but where do you eat if you go to the Sheraton? What does it cost to get back and forth?

-- Activities. Clearly there's a lot to do at Atlantis, but what about the Sheraton? how much is there to do at the hotel and what about the surrounding area?

"It's clear that you eat at Atlantis if you stay there...' We eat very few meals at Atlantis while were there. There are so many different types of restaurants in and around downtown Nassau and we like to eat things we can't get at home. There are several restaurants in the Cable Beach area and I'll leave that list up to those who stay on Cable Beach.

Research Atlantis and you'll see just how much there is for your teenage girls to do day and night. If you want more specifics, I'll be glad to give yuo a list.

Stayed at Sheraton Cable Beach in April and loved it. The rooms have been recently renovated and the beach and pools are wonderful. As for restaurants the buffet was okay and the cafe downstairs in the lobby was nice for breakfast. Did not eat at the Italian restaurant. You can ride the #10 bus for $1.00 to just about anywhere and there are a lot of good restaurants in and around town. There are jet skis and snorkeling equipment on the beach (although the snorkeling is not great). There is a tour desk that can book any tour you want (and there are plenty of them). Recommend the Flying Cloud catamaran and Blue Lagoon Island Dolphin swim. You're not going to get as many choices for food and activities as the Atlantis, but it's all relative to cost. Enjoy.
