"Day Away" to Harbour Island on ferry

The web site for the Bahamas fast ferry seems out of date. Has anyone taken a day trip from Nassau to Harbour Island recently? I have been looking for their info on the "Day Away". Did you have any trouble booking once you got to Nassau? Is the package trip worth it or just go it alone with a ferry ride and rent a golf cart, find your own way and lunch?

The package is the better deal. Your cart is waiting for you when you get off the ferry, and someone is waiting to take your cart when you return. You only have 5 1/2 hours on the island, and you don't want to waste time renting and returning the cart.

Went on the Away Day package 3 days ago. We had no problem booking through the Hotel concierge. The package is a good deal with pick up from your hotel, ferry, golf cart, tour and $20 lunch voucher per person for use at one of five restaurants. It is certainly easier and good value.

My tips would be to eat at Valentine's Marina. It's a gorgeous waterfront setting, with nice food and so inexpensive after Nassau/ Paradise Island.

Don't waste your time with the guided tour. The hostess was very nice but the plaques and busts they take you to see aren't that attractive or interesting ( and I'm a history buff).

The Pink Sands Beach is to die for. Unfortunately it was too cold to sunbathe or swim so we found there was plenty of time on the day trip. With better weather we would have hated to leave.

Take a book or your MP3 for the ferry, as it's almost 3 hours each way. There are TVs but they were tuned to ESPN on the way out and CNN coming back, neither the best if sports and news aren't your thing on vacation.

Avoid the snack bar on the ferry. $4 for a polystyrene cup of mediocre coffee or for a cup of hot water and a Lipton's teabag.
