Need recommendations for a beach day

Will be Nassau for one day in two weeks. Wanted to do a day pass at the Atlantis that included the beach. You can normally purchase those for $60; however due to the Atlantis being full this July they are not selling them and a similar pass is $145 via the ship. That is too much. Need recommendations for a beach day with a really nice beach. A beach where you could snorkel from shore would be a +. I will be with my Mom whom is in here 70s; she will not snorkel but will need a chair and an umbrella.

A couple of options...but first, snorkelling from the beaches really isn't that great. You need to snorkel a reef, from a boat, with one of the tour groups. Also, the day pass for Atlantis is actually around $110, as it includes the water park attractions.

1. Br. Colonial Hilton for around $20 bucks p.p. gives you a pool and a decent beach, plus amenities ( Their beach faces the harbour, not the ocean.) You can walk to the hotel from the cruise dock.

2. Breezes (10-15 min by taxi or jitney bus). Full all-inclusive for around $60 bucks p.p Good deal if you like to eat and drink alot.

3. Wyndham/Sheraton (near the Breezes). Around $40 bucks and includes a buffet lunch at the Wyndham. Not sure of the price at the Sheraton, or what you get.

4. Public beaches....very few if any amenities. Wouldn't recommend it in your situation.

I think you best bet for you and your mom might be the Wyndham or Sheraton if you want the nicer beach. The Hilton might also be a convenient option.

My suggestion would be the sheraton at Cable Beach. Day passes are $25 pp. There are 3 pools including swim up, zero entry and a water fall. Plenty of chairs, umbrellas and palapas.. Bar and grill. Poolside service. Snorkeling gear for snorkeling from the beach. Non-motorized water toys such as trikes, kayaks etc.. as well as well maintained beach, pools, restrooms etc.

Lifeguards are on duty from 9am-5pm daily. Day ROOMs are available for $99 for 2 ppl . $10 for ea. add'l person to a room maximum of 4.

Taxi (about $15) or the #10 jitney (1.25pp) will get you there in 10/15 minutes.

British Colonnial hilton is near to the port but cost $60 pp which included a $30 voucher for food.

Wyndham day pass is $40 and includes buffet lunch, It's located next door to the Sheraton and have full priveleges to both hotels.

I'm hot recommending Breezes these days. It's been dirty lately, and the pool has been filthy and slimey. Maybe it's the weather.. but I can't recommend it at this time.

Ok thankyou, yes i agree the Sheraton or the Wyndham sound like the best choice. Here is what i found out as others may want to know:

Sheraton: 242-327-6000 Cable Beach: $25.00 for Day passes this includes use of facilities, a chair and towel. It is a 10-15 minute taxi ride.

Wyndham: 242-327-6200 Cable Beach – phone is unreachable today. Will update when i can get thru.

British Colonial Hilton Nassau Bahamas: $60.00 for day passes includes the use of the beach and pool, which also includes towels, lounge chairs and $30.00 credit that can go towards your food and beverage. Rates are ages 1 – 3 free, and anyone 4 yrs and over will pay full price. You can book in advance by calling the reservation desk (242)322-3301. Located 10mins (walking) away from port.

One more question, any idea how much lunch would be at the Sheraton?? Which is nicer Sheraton or Wyndham?? Do you really think you can use pools at both??

The Sheraton and Wyndham are adjacent hotels, joined by a casino. I understand that your day pass is reciprocal at both hotels. Personally, I think the Sheraton is the nicer of the two, and has more to offer. Lunch for 2....depending on how much and what it is you eat, could run you anywhere from $25 to $50 bucks. I do believe there is still a Sbarro's nearby where you might be able do have a quick and cheap lunch. If you are taking the Jitney bus, it's the #10, and you will need $1.25 exact change. The Jitney's stop running around 5.30-6.00. A taxi back to the docks might run $10 - $12 bucks or so.

Wyndham day pass includes lunch at their Seaside Buffet, which is pretty nice for lunch. A day pass from the Sheraton or Wyndham gives you access to the pools at both hotels and the beach. The two properties are connected. Can't comment on lunch prices at the Sheraton, but the pool at the Wyndham does have an outdoor grill at the pool and seating. Burgers, chicken sandwiches, wings, salads, appetizers, snacks, etc. And they gladly accept cash. There was a Sbarro's next door, but they closed that location and moved further west. The #10 buses do run until around 6 or 6:30 in the evening, some may run a little later. But that's when most of the drivers call it a day.

We went to the Sheraton at Cable Beach and loved it. $25 for a day pass. I will never go anywhere else for a cruise ship stop in Nassau.

There are 3 pools including swim up, zero entry and a water fall. Two Hot tubs. Plenty of chairs, umbrellas and palapas.. Large clean beach. Bar and grill. Poolside service. Snorkeling gear for snorkeling from the beach. Non-motorized water toys such as trikes, kayaks etc.. as well as awesome restrooms for changing if needed.

There is a Casino that links the Wyndam next door. You can use pools & beaches at both hotleswith paid access at the Sheraton or paid access at the Wyndam. The Wyndam has a very nice water slide.

I preferred the Shearton. We arrived around 9AM and stayed until 3PM. We spend an hour at the Wyndam.

The #10 jitney ($1.25pp) will get you there in 10/15 minutes. The bus is easy to catch right outside the Straw market. It stops right in front of the Sheraton and we waited less than 5 minutes to catch the bus to go back to the straw Market. We wanted to walk around some before heading back to the boat so it was perfect.

The outdoor grill at Wyndham is worlds above the Sheraton's grill.

A question for you, please. We will be in Nassau for 1 day in late October. Did you reserve your day pass before you sailed, or get it at the Sheraton the day of your arival? Thanks!

We purchased it at the Hotel registration desk upon arrival. No advance purchase is needed.
