Bad choice!! The Gulf Coast would of been a much better option. The boat is full of half naked drunks. And even worse still there is nowhere onboard if your a smoker like me to have a wee puff. Nearly threw myself overboard and we hadn't even left Port! I hope your wee one isn't too young cause you've had it! Basically its a booze cruise and the kids all run riot! When you get to the Bahamas abandon ship Matey!

Hi

We liked your question but the reply didn't make sense. I would like to know what you find out. We are going in Jan 2011

The ship docks right in downtown Nassau. So to see downtown, you do not need a taxi.

As for the beach, I admit I am partial to the Sheraton because I have stayed there a few times and for the $40 or so you pay per person you get full use of the facilities and the adjacent property at the Wyndham. I think it's a great deal. They have 3 pool and a large and clean beach area (not including what is at the Wyndham).

Not sure of your dates for your cruise but the Wyndham I think closes for a few months at the end of August to maybe October(?) Others more knowledgable on that can chime in here.

Taxis are easy to secure. Very easy. But if you do wind up going to the Sheraton or Cable Beach take the #10 bus which will drop you off in front for $1.50 a person. I would have never previously considered taking a bus, kind of spoiled, but once you see how convenient it is and cost effective you'd really be stupid not to take it.

The Sheraton does offer a room to use for the day as well for $100 a person if that's what you are looking for. Check with them to find out exactly what you get for the $.

There is a Hilton right in downtown that has a nice, but small pool and a small little beach area if you are looking to get somewhere quickly (walking distance from the ship). When we got off our cruise back in '08 before ever having gone to Nassau and not knowing anything we spent the day at the Hilton. it's quieter and small but very convenient.

Wyndham pass is $40 pp and includes lunch, but access to the Sheraton pools as well. Sheraton deals start at $25, but that just gets you on the beach or pools, No food or beverage. But for more $$'s as Rock posted, you can secure a room for the day, etc.

One correction, the #10 bus from downtown to Cable Beach is $1.25 pp. Each way. Also, the Wyndham and Crystal Palace Casino will be closed August 23rd and will re-open on October 5th. During that time the pool and beach on the Wyndham property will also be closed.
