Bachelor-esque?

Hi TA members... first time posting.

We are a group of six cruising our way to Nassau next week on the Carnival Imagination. One of us is a bachelor and I'm in charge of making the vacay memorable. We are in Nassau next Saturday from 10am to Sunday 7am. Just a few questions:

Are there ANY beaches that will allow us to relax for free?

Any nature trails we may be able to partake in?

Is horseback riding available?

Where is the best kept hidden secret for guys who don't want to follow the tourist crowd (Restaurant, beach, and lounge-wise)?

Any cigar shops/lounges?

And lastly, the bachelor is not very lascivious, but the groomsmen are. Would you know of any "garmentless" bars/clubs in the area?

I know the country is very conservative, but there has to be areas where heathens can deviate.

Please help. And thanks!

Hi Analogy - Welcome to TA!

Beaching - As the result of a very recent post - quick answer - no hotel beaches for free. Yes, free public beaches - Junkanoo Beach (walk from cruise ship, can be quite a party scene) & Cabbage Beach (Paradise Island, take a taxi, lots going on there too, especially watersports).

Nature trails?

hmmmm - what about a Segway tour? leaves right beside Junkanoo Beach - http://segwaynassau.com There was another company but they seem to not be operating right now - did like where they went better, Coral Harbour, much more secluded http://www.bahamassegwaytours.com

Nassau Botanical Gardens - fodors.com/world/…review-156997.html - nice, but can't see this as a bachelor thing!

Ardastra Gardens & Zoo - again, beautiful but again, doesn't seem like a place for deviating heathens LOL

Best Kept Hidden Secret?

For beaches & day-time - take a boat trip to Rose Island! Charter your own speedboat (Sandy Port Resort or Barefoot Sailing Cruises) or go on a small (or smaller, depending on which one you choose) group boat trip - Flying Cloud, Barefoot Sailing Cruises, Sandy Toes...

Have a great time!

Once again. Sandyport does NOT charter boats to those who do not stay on their property. Please check your facs before posting.

Are there ANY beaches that will allow us to relax for free?

*** Yes, Junkanoo beach is just outside of downtown and has a nice tiki bar and sometimes a band. Just head west.. it's a 10min. walk.

Any nature trails we may be able to partake in?

*** Not really, these day's it's best to stay with the crowd. Going "off the beaten path" can make you sitting ducks for the crime element that's currently messing up this country.

Is horseback riding available?

Yes, Happy Trails at Windsor equestrian does tours.

Where is the best kept hidden secret for guys who don't want to follow the tourist crowd (Restaurant, beach, and lounge-wise)?

there's a nice seqway tour that might be fun. http://segwaynassau.com/

Any cigar shops/lounges? Via Caffe is a small café outside the port (right on the corner).. they roll their own.

Graycliff (www.graycliff.com) is a better established venue with skilled rollers and great lounge, dining etc.

And lastly, the bachelor is not very lascivious, but the groomsmen are. Would you know of any "garmentless" bars/clubs in the area?

***It's illegal here.. but there are clubs like Magic City.. However, they won't be open when you are in port, and get raided on a regular basis. Patrons are arrested as well as dancers/prostitutes etc.

I know the country is very conservative, but there has to be areas where heathens can deviate.

*** I wouldn't chance it.. we have a very high HIV rate in the Bahamas.

Atlantis bars have some "working ladies" .. ask the bartenders in the casino.. Aura won't be open when you are in.

I believe scuba misread your hours in port. Club Aura at Atlantis is open from 10pm to 4am. Just expect to pay insane prices. The Atlantis casino is always busy on weekend nights, and would be the place to go. Stayed there the last two nights and it was packed. Havana Humidor has a location on property, for real Cuban cigars, as well as their own made in the shop. Working girls at Atlantis??? Well if you don't have a room there...and not willing to invite big time trouble...very bad idea. Strip clubs are illegal, but there are a couple. Scuba, mentioned Magic City...I can walk there in 5 minutes from my front door. As was posted, they are often raided, and everyone goes on the bus to the detention center. And you will stay there for a couple of days. Any strip club where upon entering your subjected to more screening than a TSA check at the airport, is not where you want to go. Stay away.

No problem. Didn't know about the Sheraton cracking down on BYOB. Although I haven't been on the property in almost a year. I've been to Magic City...never again, last time I left before two were shot in the parking lot. Too close for comfort, and too close to home.

Sorry Analog - forgot about Magic City for the strip club part of your request - but sounds like it's not too magical!

Don't forget Sr. Frogs and the Blue Notes/Jazz place at the Hilton - both right downtown/easy access from your ship!

Depending on your budget, if you go to Aura - book a table!

Happy Bachelor-izing!
