Looking for the perfect hotel on the best beach

Looking for a hotel where a couple in their 60's will be able to do a 5 mi. beach run each morning and enjoy free beach chairs in the afternoon. We want a hotel with free in-room Wi-Fi, flat screen TV, comfortable bed (no dusty smell - which translates to no old hotels that have not been updated recently) and nicely appointed bathrooms. Any suggestions? They tell me the water on the east side of the island is much more choppy than the west side. Is this true?

I think you're gonna have to wait for Bahamar to open in Dec 2014 to get what you are looking for.

Not sure where you heard about the east/west water.. most beaches are North / South. Nowaday's the roughest water is on the north side of Paradise Island (Atlantis/Cabbage Beach).

Sandals Royal Bahamian meets your criteria other than having that much beach for a jog.

You don't mention a budget.... :)

I'd go with the Cove or the Reef on Paradise Island, if that's in your budget. The beach there - aptly named Paradise Beach - is the best beach in the Nassau/Paradise Island area. It's also got (unlike it's neighbor to the South, Cabbage Beach, which is very soft) a lovely firm running surface.

Cabbage Beach is NOT a 5 mile run. It's about 2 miles and interrupted by outcroppings of hard (and sometimes sharp) coral beds. Nassau is not known for it's expansive beaches. Most have some interruptions, rock walls or hard surfaces.

I didnt think there were any 5 mile beaches on new providence/ paradise island, cable beach included.

based on what the OP looking for, my suggestion would be Ocean Club (as long as you not concerned about budget), though the water can get quite rough and choppy on cabbage beach at times (but you can walk a little to the east and find a sheltered quiet cove), and I dont think wifi is free.

In room and poolside WiFi in free to guests of the One and only Ocean Club, but not at the Cove, Reef or any other Atlantis tower.

Atlantis charges $22 a day for WiFi
