Let me start off first by saying thank God for trip advisor and everyone's comments and knowledge. I felt like I had been to Atlantis before already from learning alot on this site.
We just got back from a 6 night stay at Harborside. We were in building 2, 4th floor, deluxe corner unit!!! Let me just tell you if you have to beg, try to get a corner unit they are georgous!!! Our room was immaculate except there was an ant problem big time. Funny thing is, they don't look like the ants I have here in MA. Try not to leave any food hanging in and around the sinks or counter or it will be mayhem!!
We had everything we needed in the unit and the bed was very comfy. Elevator was working fine and we had no issues with our unit at all.
We packed lots of snacks and some water and drink boxes for the kids. Snacks were necessary and drink boxes as they can be expensive but don't bother with bottled water. We actually went to the city market with the shuttle and the grocery store was fine. I got bottled water and some fruits and veggies, packaged ham and bologna, bread, and other stuff. My bill was $107 and it fed us all 3 meals the whole week. Mind you we are not big eaters and were happy with sandwiches for lunch and dinner. The shuttle was fine except it was CROWDED and we literally were fighting to get on with our groceries. I suggest bringing a rolling cooler or suitcase with you to help carry the stuff. That was a BIG help.
We ran out of bottled water by the end of the week and just filled the bottles with tap water. I say, don't even bother with bottled water and drink tap, it was fine. We are very sensitive people and the water never bothered any of us in our party of 9.
Get wrist bands at Harborside as the lines were not bad. The pool closed at 7pm but we were all swimming "at our own risk" after that. The hot tub was nice too at night.
Our vacation was not without incident thats for sure. It started with my 6 year old getting his toe nail lifted in the revolving door at the airport, then our second night there we had to call an ambulance cuz my husband accidentally gave my 4 year old peanut butter (he's allergic). The ambulance was there very quick and they brought us to Doctor's Hospital. We had to pay up front with a credit card, i will just have to contact my insurance for reimbursement now. The hospital was in a bad neighborhood of Nassau, when we got out of the ambulance there were rats across the street hanging around a dumpster. Yuk!!! The doctors and nurses were extremely nice and competent. We ended up staying for observation for a few hours then we were released. My son was fine. There was a family next to us in the ER who had just arrived that day and her 60 year old mother cut her leg open on one of the pool chairs at Atlantis. She had to avoid all water for her whole trip so she was not a happy camper. I felt so bad for her. I'm sure they will sue Atlantis. I mean cmon there was a rusty screw sticking out of the chair, she should at least be given a free trip.
The Harborside was very thorough about our incident. The nurse called me the next morning to check on my son,and security came to me to take a report. That poor lady was lucky to get a wheelchair a couple days later from Atlantis.
In my opinion if you want to stay in Atlantis's hotels I thought the beach tower location was the best with kids. You have the beach right there, lazy river and a nice zero entry pool. If you stay at Royal towers its a hike to get to the pools. We spent alot of time at Atlantis beach. The water was breathtaking and warm. There were rough waves but the kids had fun being knocked over. There are jellyfish right now especially in the Lagoon. I would avoid the lagoon unless you want to snorkel. My hubby said there were lots of fish to see.
The dig is awesome and all the marine lagoons awesome.
Aquaventure was GREAT!! We did all slides except Leap of Faith. The Current Rapids were fun but be careful not to get dumped over and keep your feet in and arms. We got scraped. My hubby was happy that we literally bumped into a celebrity on the Current ride. It was John Smoltz from the Atlanta Braves. Curiosity killed me and i didn't believe my husband it was him so I asked him, "are you a baseball player for the Braves?" It was him!!!
Another couple saw Sean Connery the night before at a restaurant in Nassau.
The Cove was spectacular you must visit it. We found taking the shuttle to the Cove was convenient for Aquaventure.
We did the casino a few time and saw one movie. My 6 year old went to Club rush and i don't recommend it for kids that age. The older kids were hogging all the video games so I paid for my son to sit there and watch a movie. He is not aggressive and too shy to say anything.
We sent the kids to Kids Camp one afternoon so the adults could do the slides, it went by so fast let me tell you.
The weather was perfect the whole week, not a drop of rain. We got very tan as we were exposed to sun everyday! It was HOT though, you will spend alot of time in the water. Oh and beware for people or probably kids going #2 in the pools. The pool next to the Cove was shut down in mid day because of this. YUK!!!!! Apparently it has been happening alot according to the pool attendants.
I found there were hardly any chairs available, ever, at any pool. The beaches had plenty but not the pools. If you get a pool attendant they will get you one.
ok thats all I can think of right now. If there are any questions please ask.
