It is 18 but no one checks ID anyway! This can be good or bad if u have teenage children

Actually in the casinos they will check ID's if there is any question about someones age, casino security and gaming board agents are always watching for underage drinking or gaming. In restaurants they are more relaxed as long as they are not getting out of control.

That's exactly what I was thinking. My 18 year old will be happy. I'm not sure I am.

We have seen teenagers that have been carded and then served anyway. Other times, no questions were asked.

Really? Where and when? Yes they might get away playing a slot machine for a few minutes...but there are too many people watching. I'm sure they were not rolling the dice or playing blackjack. Yes, I've seen parents letting their kids push the buttons on slots, but eventually security or the gaming board shows up. All in all it's against the law in the Bahamas...and all other places. So please, if your coming down with your kids, keep them out of the casinos. The security/gaming board agents are not exactly the most tourist friendly people. But, remember they are doing their jobs.

wwbev- That may be the norm but not when we were there last. There was a group of around ten playing the slots and being rather obnoxious and no one ever said anything to them.

considering the current state of the economy worldwide, look at this issue from Atlantis's point of view. If you were Atlantis and hurting for business/revenue, would you not overlook some teenagers dumping cash down a hole in the slots???

Doesn't matter what anyone at Atlantis, Crystal Palace, or Isle of Capri casinos thinks. They all have a gaming license issued by the Bahamas Gaming Board. They are the final word. Gaming board can and has imposed fines for allowing underage gambling and allowing persons who can not legally gamble. Yes, it's a bit of an oxymoron as far as gambling in the Bahamas. Residents, citizens, or persons here on a work permit are not allowed to gamble in the casinos, but there are numerous number shops (disguised as web cafes, etc.) that sell numbers that are based on lottery results elsewhere. Police occasionally bust one or two shops for some publicity, but they mostly turn a blind eye.
