Sandy Toes Excursion

Sandy Toes excursion has been recommended a few times on this forum, so I am considering it. As of now we are going to do either Flying Cloud or Sandy Toes. Is there anyone out there that has actually done this excursion and can tell me if they liked it?

In case you did not read my other

postings about the Flying Cloud

excursions, here it is:

For an excellent, safe, snorkel

excursion go with the Flying

Cloud catamaran sailboat. The

boat departs twice daily from the

Ferry Terminal between the

bridges to/from Paradise Island.

The trip is $70pp. I've been on it

five times. The ride is relaxing

and quiet out to Rose Island

where your Captain anchors next

to a very colorful reef teeming with

many varieties of fish. Snorkel

gear is provided. The reef is

relatively shallow making it very

easy to dive down and swim

among the corals and fish.

You can make free reservations

with them via e-mail. Their

website is:

Tigervette

Thank you, yes I did see your postings about Flying Cloud and we are considering it. Sandy Toes is also recommended and for the same price it includes lunch and a few hours more on Rose Island. I am trying to use modern technology to select the best possible excursion....time is short and everything is soooo expensive. I did hear from a family that sent on Sandy Toes excursion in June and she absolutely loved it.

Rose island is uninhabited as you may know. From what I have read, the Sandy Toes excursion is an all day event as opposed to the 4 hour Flying Cloud trip. To me, F.C. is a better use of time. You can see the same type of beach environment by walking past Atlantis to the right or east. There, the beach is natural with homes on top of the tree line well past the trees in the initial area.

Tigervette,

This is funny....we just pulled out our honey moon video from 1990 where we stayed at Merv Griffen Resort and Casino (now Beach Towers).... well in the video was my husband and I on a catameran and we were able to clearly see the name of the sail boat, it was Flying Cloud lol. Boy they have been around for a long time! We do remember have a great time sailing out to Rose Island. I'll be on P.I. on Monday, so it should be interesting to see it all again 22 years later. Let you know when we get back what we end up doing. Thanks for all you help.

Tiger.. you wrote "You can see the same type of beach environment by walking past Atlantis to the right or east. There, the beach is natural with homes on top of the tree line well past the trees in the initial area."

I would have to say that Rose Island is nowhere near the same environment as Cabbage Beach (which is open to the public and overused).. especially the area that Sandy Toes goes to.

As much as I like Flying cloud, I enjoy my day at Sandy Toes better.

It's rustic, noone else on the island. Relaxed, with lunch, drinks, great snorkeling both from the beach and the dockside, and a terrific crew.

FC has a sunday bbq that would be a good choice, but to me, the 1/2 day is just a little to rushed for my taste.

Scubagirrl,

I mentioned the BEACH environment on Rose Island being the same as the BEACH environment on Cabbage Beach. Obviously Rose Island off the beach is different than Paradise Island as it is now. Yes, it's not fair to say Rose I. is the same as Paradise Island. I was only comparing the beaches to the tree line.

Gotcha... the area that Sandy Toes uses is different than the beach area that Flying Cloud uses. It's a cut in the beach.. with stairs going up to the underbrush and hammocks, patio etc.

It's a nice day trip.. you should do it one day when your in town.

Tell Deb I sent ya..

Sandy Toes will be on my list of excursions when I am ready for another trip down there. Is there a website with information and can you make 'free' reservations like Flying Cloud via e-mail?

We went on the Sandy Toes Excursion and had a great time! These people work hard to make sure that everyone has a good time. The boat was clean and well maintained. Their buffet lunch was delicious. Best value on the island!
