Wydham and Night Activities

I am staying at the Viva Wydham through RCI Timeshare and was wondering if the nightlife is good and exciting? I was also wondering if the casino is well kept and if there are shows, etc? I will be staying from 4/21-4/29 for my 30th birthday and just really want to make this an awesome experience.

Catch a cab to the market near Our Lucaya (Westin & Sheraton). Lots of good restaurants, bars, entertainment there at Count Basie Square. Very safe, we walked all over it every day/night we were there. Didn't find many dance clubs per se, but they were dancing at the square each night. Had a blast. Casino close by was so-so. We walked thru but didn't gamble, no crowds at the time. It was next to the market on the way to the Shearton/Westin.

We are going in April for my birthday and my research pretty much shows that there is 1 casino there in Sheraton that is sometimes dead.... and that the Wyndam(where we are staying) is more laid back and just for relaxing. So if your looking for hard core partying, doesn't look that they have that kind of night life.

I just got back from Viva Fortuna, and to be honest, we did not like it. We also stayed through RCI. I have stayed many different places with RCI and this place was by far the worst. It's not that it was run down... it was just dirty. I wore flip flops in the shower. And the food is awful. Plus the spring breakers were out of control. I'm not sure if they'll still be there when you're going, but we ended up leaving the hotel half way through the stay. Some will say that the hotel is not at fault for spring breakers, but I think they are because they did not deal with them taking over the hot tub, trashing the place, screaming up and down the halls at 5 am so you could get no sleep and the constant profanity they were shouting. The few other people we met our age or older (we are 28 and 37) were also moving to other hotels even if they were going to be losing money. With RCI you can get reimbursed for the nights you don't use because you pay upon arrival. I'm not trying to put a damper on your trip. Just a warning cause I really wish I'd never even checked in.

Ok, the VIva Wyndham pretty much stinks. If you're up for all-you-can-drink cheap alcohol, you're good. It's basically the cheapest type liquor you can get without it being rubbing alcohol. You'll HAVE to get a cab to the downtown area for any nightlife - they have some "events" at the hotel (game shows, etc. ok at 60, not at 30). The casinos aren't that great. Make sure you have cab fare for the trip back!!! The ATMs went down when we were there (yes, even at the hotel) and it was a major hassle getting back to the hotel.
